America is not at war

Followed a link from a post at Take Five, and came across this picture at Mitch Lewis.

It says a lot, doesn't it?

  1. Yes it does, doesn't it? Gotta love it.

  2. I hate what it says, but I love that someone had the guts to say it.

  3. I would add, it ain't just the Marines, there's a LOT of the rest of us at war, too. Army, Navy, Air Force......
but putting it all out there would've detracted from the message.

Still, I HATE constantly hearing "the Marines" this and "the Marines" that, as if the other services had no dog in the race.

  4. I guess they could have said the military is at war, something like that maybe. But I get the impression that they were saying, America is (safe) and "at the mall." Business as usual in the good ol' US of A.... :) Thank God for that.

  5. I'm sure the Marines wrote it, those eager little buggers are usually the first ones in!

But it hurts my heart, because I know exactly what they mean:

We're here suffering and watching our mates die, etc., etc.......
and you at home are either too busy shopping and going about your usual lives; or, you're whining about how wrong we are.

That's a very lonely feeling, and the worst thing any person could do to a soldier.
