Health Care Insurance

Now That's Sexy!

Update: And now for your reading pleasure, the ever-venerable Snake Eater sums up the always-enteraining health care insurance thread at Lex's (which summation is even more entertaining than said thread), as follows:

My thoughts on this extraordinary thread: Just back from the weekend (this AM)and lo and behold… a tongue in cheek post from Lex that morphs into a seemingly millenial long thread ( a/k/a - a migrane inducing pissing contest) concerning the merits and/or demerits of various health care systems/insurance(s)…uggh!!!

the doctrine of unintended consequenses couples with that old saw ….no good deed goes unpunished …( I hope Lex puts this experience in his lessions learned file)that said … and snark notwithstanding, I read every comment and managed to stay awake… no terminal ennui this time. Some very pointed comments and internet fisticuffs seemed likely…but the Rt. Hon. Rev. Lex, demonstrating his seldom called upon pastoral skills, stepped in ( see comment # 43 above) and partially defused the situation..that and the threat of an internet hug from FbL did it … cloyingly painfull Kumbuya moments followed …almost everybody kissed and made up… play dates and sleepovers were arranged and all eventually came to Jesus…

Seriously (really)…snarky grab-ass aside it was a truly amazing and revealing thread by a not surprizingly good bunch of guys …ok…ok… Lex Lugs and Lex Babes ( they know who they are) and reaffirms my decision to continue hanging around here …thanks again. Best
PS, I am pleased to announce that the supremely prestigous PedanticPeckerwood Award, for the first time since the beginning of the world , is being awarded jointly to Maj Mike and filterman…congradulations to both receipents.

Thanks, unka.
But I'm afraid you've lost me with that last one ... have I gone yet? As in off my rocker, you mean? Perhaps...

Well, its getting awful cold around here unkawill. No, that will wait until, I'm thinking later summer or early fall next year. Still need to get the funds together to do it.
So things are going okay for you?

Wow, if that's your idea of entertainment--well, it just ain't mine. That was painful, and I am sure I learned nothing.

As to universal health insurance, just let me say that I've had experience with both private health insurance, and the gov't. provided health insurance, and that experience is EXACTLY why I don't want to go down the gov't road. Because it won't do. It'll kill people, and cripple people, and more of them than private does. Sure, the current system sucks. But what I've seen that the US gov't can provide--both types, I have experience with that they provide for disabled children, and also that for us healthy--military--and they are NOT GOOD.

so.....perhaps a Cdn. system would be better! I'd love to have a system where I knew in advance how much I'd have to pay out.....in a year....

and not have surprises like the bill for that ambulance ride--the bill nearly killed me!

Oh, and mmc? I don't know anything about Cda's system...
But Germany is often mentioned, they have universal health care, and take care of everyone who works--most of them work for the gov't.....in one way or another.
And the income taxes are HORRIBLE, around 50%, (no, I don't have documentation, you'llhave to look it up yourself!!!) But, with the gov't creating your job, setting your wage, then setting your tax, it doesn't matter, now, does it?

So sorry you werent entertained ma'am, but unfortunately there is no money back guarantee. You pay your money and you take your chances, as they say...

But, alas, you did learn something. You learned about Canadian tax rates. You lucky dog, you...

Then, how could you do a Canadian system? You would still have government administering the vast majority of it and that could only result in ...death ... and crippled people. Not good stuff, eh?

I gotta say....I found the entertainment fun! Very Clever!!

When I think of universal healthcare, I think of long lines...six or more months on a waiting list for a minor problem. I don't believe its going to work in our country.

I was thinking perhaps we could have the Canadian gov't run it...
since apparently theirs works way better than ours.

What say you?
